MR. SMALLS, COMCAST & CREATIVE.LIFE.SUPPORT To Showcase Pittsburgh’s Culture, Music & Opportunity

→Mr. Smalls is proud to announce the development of a “MR. SMALLS” channel under the “Your Town” section of Comcast’s On-Demand. This new partnership between Mr. Smalls, Comcast and Creative.Life.Support will provide Mr. Smalls and C.L.S with a platform to showcase Pittsburgh ’s cultural depth and educational opportunities.

The “MR. SMALLS” channel will air content created by C.L.S., including segments highlighting national artists side by side with local artists and documentaries on alternative youth programming. Future segments will include concert footage and interviews from Michael Franti, Rasputina, Anti-Flag, moe., Phat Man Dee, Liz Berlin, Bill Deasy, Rusted Root and The North Mississippi Allstars.

→As the premier series on the MR. SMALLS On-Demand channel, THE SONIC FUNHOUSE SERIES, will be a cross-state concert series featuring the music of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia . Sponsored by the non-profit partner of Mr. Smalls – Creative.Life.Support – each show will feature an average of five bands, and will be held at Mr. Smalls Theatre twice per month. The On-Demand segments from each of these events will be compiled with interviews from each of the participating bands.

This new program will bring the talent of many local and regional bands to televisions across Pennsylvania , as Mr. Smalls seeks to demonstrate the strength of Pittsburgh ’s local music scene in the spirit of healthy competition with Philadelphia .

·        October 5th, the first showcase in THE SONIC FUNHOUSE SERIES will feature Identity X, In For Red, Down the Martyr, Ayris, and The Take Away.

·        On October 20th, THE SONIC FUNHOUSE SERIES will feature the funky grooves of Creative.Life.Support founder Liz Berlin (of Rusted Root) with support from Walter Ino of Strangeway and more (to be selected –see below) as the second in this series.

→Bands will be selected for these and other showcases through the new “C.L.S LOCALS” community at www.myspace.com/clslocals, which was developed to become a hub of networking, organizing and promotion for regional bands and musicians.

These new concepts are consistent with the overall mission of the Mr. Smalls family of businesses – to promote creativity and the arts, encourage self-expression, and raise community awareness about the abundance of local talent.

Throughout the past decade, Mr. Smalls has been dedicated to serving the Pittsburgh music community with all of its available resources. From the concert venue at Mr. Smalls Theatre to the Mr. Smalls Recording Studios and the Creative.Life.Support educational complex, Mr. Smalls maintains a constant focus on the artists and enabling their success.
